The Acting Specimen Processing Manager is accountable for the operation of the Specimen Processing Department in accordance with Client’s Strategic and Operating Plans. This includes operational management at the employee, administrative and technical levels. Primary functions include ensuring strong, positive employee relations, excellence and quality, efficient utilization of resources and budget implementation. This role is key in fostering a culture of quality and internal and external customer service by developing and initiating programs and policies that consistently promote service, quality and customer satisfaction. This role works very closely with employees and colleagues and is an important member of the Specimen Processing management team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Foster an environment of positive employee relations and strong teamwork while working in compliance with established human resources policies and practices. Encourage trust and open communication by addressing staff concerns and inquiries by investigating and addressing employee issues and concerns in a timely manner. Engage Director and Divisional HR team for guidance.
•Manage department staff requirements; this includes hiring, training, performance evaluation, coaching and recognition.
•Liaising with clients and ensure proactive customer-oriented services are provided to all clients. This responsibility includes activities like providing professional and personal assistance to all external and internal clients in answering inquiries and interpreting of departmental information.
•Continuously improve workflow to assure consistency, quality and sustainability in the delivery of service to the patients, lab and clients.
•Assist with the communication of information in a concise and timely manner to all staff regarding policy changes and other pertinent issues
•Manages and directs operations including monitoring compliance, collection, preparation, trouble shooting, problem solving and supervision of the daily operations
•Ensure compliance in health and safety programs and activities.


**Must be able to work 6:30p.m. to 2:30a.m. Mon - Fri
Requirements:QUALIFICATIONS:
•Diploma in a health care field or other related field or equivalent experience.
•3-5 years of demonstrated management and leadership ability.
•superior interpersonal, communication and organization skills required
•Proven customer service skills required
•Excellent communication and organizational skills required
•MS Office experience in Word, Excel and PowerPoint required
•Demonstrated interest in career development training an asset.
•Medical laboratory and healthcare experience an asset.
